Visa of Sri Lanka

A visa for stay up to one month is granted by the Embassy. Extensions can be obtained from Controller of Immigration and Emigration, Colombo, No. 23 Bambalapitiya Station Road, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Tel. 503629, 503631, 503638, 503653, 503763.

The visa applications are accepted between 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon and the passports are returned the following day between 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

  • Tourist Visas

    The requirements for obtaining a visa are:

    1. Visa application form signed by the applicant.
    2. One Photograph.
    3. Air ticket onward or return.
  • Business Visas

    1. Visa application form signed by the applicant.
    2. One photograph.
    3. Air tickets onward and return.
    4. A letter from the company in Egypt giving brief description of the business.
    5. Letter of invitation or correspondence from the company/companies in Sri Lanka.
  • Residence Visas

    Foreign nationals who wish to travel to Sri Lanka to obtain residence visas should apply to the Embassy at least one month before the date of scheduled departure, since the issuance of visa has to be approved by the Controller of Immigration and Emigration in Colombo.

    A person who traveled to Sri Lanka on a tourist or business visa will not be granted a residence visa in Sri Lanka. Under no circumstances the status of visas will be changed after the arrival in Sri Lanka (eg. From a tourist visa to any other category of visa). If changes are required, such applicants will have to leave the country and apply for visas from the nearest Sri Lanka Mission abroad.

    The fee for a single entry visa is US $ 27/- for Egyptian nationals (equivalent amount in Egyptian Pounds).
  • Health

    Visitors to Sri Lanka from yellow fever infected areas should have the vaccination against yellow fever.
